The Model American
Please take away my sight
I cannot trust what I see
And replace it with your message
So I know what to believe
Please bind my mouth
I do not wish to speak
Please keep me in silence
So I may not relay what I have seen
Please hide the graves
Of our soldiers who have died
The soldiers that fight for freedom
Because you tell them it is right
Please hide the misery
Of those whom we fight
For they are the enemy
They are not human inside
Please tell me everything will be OK
As you put me to sleep
Please tell me you will save me
With the medicine that I need
Please lend me your help
My dreams are filled with dread
Please reassure me we are right
My conscience is pleading again
Please save the banks that have failed
For we know the owners as good men
Please protect our corporations’ civil rights
For they are surely our greatest friends
Please provide us with education
We cannot lecture our own
Please take away my weapons
My defense I need you to control
Please observe all that I do
My rights are so important to me
Please make sure I do not stray
And lose this freedom that I need
Please protect our overseas officials
With private services like XE
Surely our military cannot protect them
And we must limit the atrocities they see
Please tell me everything will be OK
as you put me to sleep
Please tell me you will save me
with the medicine that I need
Please lend me your help
My dreams are filled with dread
Please reassure me we are right
My conscience is pleading again
Please give me identification
So I cannot become lost
Please keep track of me always
I require guidance at all costs
Please control the other countries
That show signs of possible threat
Clear and present danger is defunct
We must now look ahead!
These other countries hate us to death
They are jealous of what we have
They are savages without reason
Please manipulate and kill them instead
These topics are so complex
Thinking about them hurts my mind
Please make these decisions for me
I will trust you until the day I die
